Went to a place I haven’t hunted very much, for what reason I do not know just hadn’t. Dumped out at a feeder where the occasional boar hog would show up about once a week. Dogs didn’t do much but my blondie boy dog stayed gone like he was cold trailing something. We left him and went to the back of the place. Hurc and some puppies start a hog and Suzie fell in. Caught a spotted sow and a shoat. They roll over and bay and when we get there it is a big hog. He sees us and runs at us and I give him the bull dog. She hangs him about 40 yards away. It’s a Barr hog that weights every bit of 3. They roll over 100 yards away catch a boar hog with one decent tooth. Dogs roll over again send the bull dog it 2 Barr’s bayed together she hangs one the other breaks. They roll over bull dog hangs him. The dogs roll over again and bay.  My bulldog is young dog that I haven’t started runnin a vest on yet and she got a pretty nasty cut on the neck with the first Barr hog so I made the decision to run back to my house and get another bulldog (Diesel). (Hour round trip) Get back and my blondie boy dog is bayed 2 miles from the other dogs. We go to him catch a good sow and boar hog pick him up and go back to where we had been catching the Barr’s and they are still bayed. Go in there catch another Barr. Dogs roll over and have a big hog bayed on a bluff bank. Send diesel he hangs him. By this time it is 430pm the dog are give out. The total came out to be 10 hogs, 5 of which were Barr’s. Dang sure a hunt that I’ll never forget. We got luck with only having a few dogs cut up and nothing getting killed. All on low fence free range hogs.

I know the boy that hunts the place and there is not supposed to be any poisons out on there place. One thing that raises a question for me is that there was a be pipe line coming through but I did not see any trash at all. The pipe was still on top of the ground but was welded together. Does golden marlin show up on a poison test?

Went to a spot that we usually only hunt during tournaments and had the strangest hunt I have ever had. Me an my buddy Garrett decided we were going to hunt our dogs separate so we could make the hunt last longer. The place we were at is several thousand acres. He turns out his pack at the trailer which consisted of possum Hercules and a hand full of puppies. Dogs caught a small hog and rolled over. It wasn’t long they brought 2 hogs by us that were a solid 250. They split and about 5 min later it’s shows possum treed with two other dogs. We get about 200 yds from them can’t hear nothing.  We slip around there to see what’s going on an possum is laid out lifeless foaming at the mouth with no cuts. It’s says Hercules is treed so while Garrett tends to his dogs I take mine around where Hercules is and he come out. Take them a few hundred yards away dump them back out catch a sow that goes almost 300 and a couple other decent hogs. On the way back to the truck we pick up a dog in the same area possum was that says treed. Get to the dog same thing as possum. Lifeless and foamy mouth. Both dogs die pretty quick after we found them. Another dog that’s on the hunt is acting very strange. He develops similar symptoms and dies the next day. Took the dog to A&M to have test run. All poison and neurological test come back negative. Strangest thing I have ever seen. Still don’t know what happened to any of them. Picture don’t do her justice.

6  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / New Spot on: October 29, 2018, 09:01:11 am
A buddy of mine that I do a fair amount of hunting with got a new spot a couple weeks ago.  We drop a few dogs on the ground and they go .65 and tree in a pretty good thicket. It takes us at least an hour to get to them but when we do boy we’re we in for a surprise. Generally speaking only one dog between us is pretty rough and he is baying. We finally get close enough to send tabby an sweat pea and they hang this pretty blonde hog right off of a four wheeler trail. Naturally this four wheeler trail leads us right back to where we start in just 5 short minutes. We called it a day.
