RIP Jasper, for those that knew him, you know he was one hell of a dog. I got to hunt with him several times myself and you can rest assured that he is one that knew his job and was all about getting it done right. He will truely be missed as a friend and hunting partner.

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Boots Strikes Again!!!!!!
|

Me and my boys loaded up tonight and made a little circle on some new country we just aquired. Took my number 1 dog and two young dogs and my 1/2 Airedale-1/2 Pit catch dog. We roaded around 2 sections, and started down the North side when Boots struck out of the truck. He and one young dog ran out about 400 yds and bayed solid, so we took the other young dog and the catch dog in to them. I heard Boots yelp, and sent Daisey from about 300 yds. The pig never squeeled, so I knew he was pretty good. Got him legged and stuck and ol Boots layed down, loosing alot of blood. We gathered up the dogs and went to Pauls place for some help getting Boots put back together again. Got him all tended to and called it night, I'll get the pictures posted after daylight, when I get the pig weighed.

As far as loading them with a chain, it just makes it alot easier on horses and men using the winch. Thats about he quickest way in the world to make a horse quit pulling, because you overloaded him trying to do something that could have been done an easier way.

I've been bedding my dogs on fuzzy cottonseed for several years, and they seem to do really well with it up here in the Panhandle. They stay warm and the oil in the cottonseed seems to really help their hair coat. I also feed a little more when it is cold.

Wish we could stay busy enough doing this to get to do it everyday of the week. My horses might evolve into the same kind of horses I rode when I was doing this all the time.

Lots of fun chasing and catching all those wild cattle, made me feel like I was about 25 years old again. Hated to lose Molly as she was a pretty good dog on pigs, and probably would have been a good cowdog. This was her first trip as a cowdog, but she showed some promise. RIP Molly

I haven't seen all of their dogs, but I sold them two of those young dogs, and I know for a fact that they have some really nice young dogs.
By the way guys, good hunt!
