I run telemetry on mine also. I had them before garmin. The old collars do more good around their neck than sitting in the corner of a closet.

High enough to not feed a sorry one! Lol

Couple years ago I went to Europe. In some countries they had signs around at the parks about leaving food around. They were having an outbreak of African Swine Fever that was spreading through the wild population and killing them. They like the pigs over there and wanted to keep them around!

Lots of hunters...running a knife through every hog..... over time makes a big difference.

How old was he? The last picture he looked like he had some age on him.

Sounds like he had cancer. It will show up in the feet/legs as sarcoma or melanoma. Seems like nothing at first, then gets bad quickly. The labored breathing meaning it was in his lungs/heart already. Never can tell 100% without xrays at vet. In that stages the vet would not have done anything.

Cuban dog I had about 12years ago. Unfortunatly, I lost her to the highway at a young age. Her littermates caught a bunch of hogs in S. Fl ranches and in the cane fields.

I have hunted with some Cuban guys in S. Fl for 20+ years. Never heard of "Cuban Curs" till I got on facebook hog hunting pages a couple years ago!LOL

There were/are good dogs mixed with cur,hound,pointer and bulldog. They alway called them Cuban dogs along with everyone else. Some worked cows....most hog hunted them. They guys i now are from South Florida.

Had some, and have some of the blood mixed in. Just like everything, the guys that hunted hard had good dogs. They kept them pretty tight to a close knit group of guys.

I think what most are now, are a sales pitch. (No offence to whowever posted the add)

Had a friend, She just had a bad wreck on a horse. A young cur dog pup tried to jump up in the saddle with her. Horse didnt like that and cost her a couple broke ribs and dislocated shoulder.

I have luck buying mine from a local Feed Store. It is a mom and pop place and the guy that owns it does the ordering. They seem to take care of the meds better.

I would avoid chains or the big box strores (TSC,RK).

The black in wolves and coyotes in North America comes from the Domestic dog.

With Genome mapping in  dogs it is confirmed, dogs did not evolve from contemporary grey wolves. They evolved from the same wolf like ancestor. They are cousins compared to direct ancestors.

Similar to humans and Neanderthals if they would not have died out.

With lots of inbreeding between the species to murky the water even farther.

ive hunted in Tn some. The hogs are between you and Nashville. There is a few pockets with good population. Most are pretty scattered. Everyone up there mostly hound hunts them. They hunt them like bear...lots of people and lots of dogs.  There is 2 public land WMA's that allow hog dogs in Dec and Jan. Most of the the bear is on the eastern side near NC.
