561  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Burning the Koran on: September 09, 2010, 08:59:18 am
There are radicals of every religion. The Christian radicals kill in the name of Jesus, as much as the Muslims in the name of Mohammad.

Before 9-11 I remember some good ole Americans killing women and children with a truck and some fertilizer in Oklahoma City.

The "Army of God" responsible for the bombings in Atlanta and bombing of abortion clinic in Birmingham....

The IRS building in Austin...

Abortion clinic murders....

The list is endless

A few bad seeds make for very very bad apples.

Have a big fire burn the Koran, the Bible, throw in Mein Kopf, and some toilet paper. It is all just paper and ink.

It is the people that make up the ideals Wink
562  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Only the strong Survive on: September 08, 2010, 08:34:59 pm
It is all adaptation.

You catch some of the worst running shoats you ever seen. Bred from pure runners that the parents cannot stop from a dog. Put them on 5,000 ranch that is never hunted for 5 years. You go in there after 5 years and you can bet they wont know a dog wont run. Hunt them year round for 5 years and they will run like H&ll.

Just like subdivision deer. The will eat peoples grass and garden and you can walk right up to them. Compare them to deer hunted all year round and will run at a whiff of a human.

They both are deer one is not smarter or faster than the other. They adapt to pressure to survive.

It takes several hundred generations to evolve......It takes one generation to "adapt".

Chufa

Is a plant you plant for deer. It kind of looks like a grass. They plant it in food plots in the SE.
564  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Another of my opinions on: August 17, 2010, 04:08:11 pm
My first 10 years I never needed a vet once. I fixed everything and got lucky. Had some dogs go to there maker but there was no saving them.

Now the last 3 years I averaged $1500 a year on stuff I could not fix.

Ran out of luck I guess?? Huh? Huh?

Damn I hope my luck changes Grin
565  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: How do ya'll get your pups to roll out? on: August 17, 2010, 02:08:13 pm
Sounds like you got the hang of it. You keep them pups going and you will have your own "finished" dogs and not have to buy one.

When you take one from pup to the kind of dog you want, you realize how much work and time went into them. Then you know why they are so hard to find and people want so much $$$ for one.
566  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Chuffa Hog on: August 17, 2010, 01:39:00 pm

567  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Drop off day at hog butcher on: August 06, 2010, 10:16:07 am
How much $ did you pay for them at that weight?
568  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Here you go Chainrated... on: August 05, 2010, 03:00:19 pm
I bred my old female that looks almost exactly like that female (and I would bet just as trashy Grin)

To a yellow BMC

And I got all brindle dogs??? Go figure
569  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Reverse bmc/cur dogs?? on: August 05, 2010, 09:59:52 am
The oldtimers always called the spotted up dogs cur dogs leapard dogs. Now they got a fancy name, registry and everything.

With the internet everything has to be labeled. Grin

I like to label mine in two groups.......

Pot licker and Hog dog.    And I prefer more of the latter Grin
570  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Help with a ride on: July 30, 2010, 06:14:18 pm

Make a move already.

I agree. It sounds like Marshall is still a year or more away from releasing anything. I am sure Garmin knows what Marshall is doing and is working on improvements. I would not doubt if they are working on and testing a collar more advanced than the dc40.

Garmin has a hell of a bigger budget for R&D than Marshall. They will take what is good for the Marshall unit and copy and intergrate it in there unit.
572  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Marshall GPS on: July 28, 2010, 10:43:16 am
I have been waiting for the Marshall system for awhile now. I was thinking it was gonna be better. But I am giving up waiting and I am going to buy the garmin. They are already 3+ generations past Marshall.

From there website

So when will these be available? I hope that you will understand that for competitive and technological reasons we cannot give you a precise answer to that question. Nor can we tell you details about what it will be like. In fact, I can’t even confirm whether certain rumors going around are correct or not, because that would also inform our competitors.

What do they have to hide? They only have one competitor and they are miles ahead of them and kicking there A$$.

If I ran my business that way I would be broker than I already am!  Grin
573  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Monkey x JJ pups - Update on: July 21, 2010, 07:05:37 am
You need a little more "color on em" Grin
574  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: One on one time.... on: July 20, 2010, 06:30:09 pm
I would rather take one young dog by itself and catch one hog then take grown dogs and catch 6.

I expect to turn loose a grown finished and catch hogs. They don't and I am dissapointed.

I catch one with an up and comer and it makes a hunt. But I am in it for the dog work not the hog count.
575  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Enough with all this catchdog talk.. on: July 16, 2010, 11:37:34 am
Damn you guys ever work!  Grin

Good hogs and sounds like a good spot and a good hunt!

I am going tonight and hoping for one in that size range!
576  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: How Many of Yall? on: July 12, 2010, 09:10:17 pm
I bred about 30 mule footed spanish hogs over about 2 years and turned them loose and never seen another one.  They were some of the slowest growing hogs! I finally got tired of pouring the feed to them and let them all loose!
577  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: How Many of Yall? on: July 12, 2010, 09:05:11 pm
If I can get my hands on them they go to the lease. If it is a pinky, listed, or jet black it goes to the woods! Grin I have barred a bunch this year and hope to keep them around to grow.
578  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: whats the best way to cattle break a dog on: July 12, 2010, 09:03:29 pm
Boot to the rear works well here.

They learn from day 1 that cows are off limits. I show the puppies tons of exposure to cows.

I think it works, I can walk every dog through the cow pasture without even a second look.
579  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Full Grown on: July 12, 2010, 08:45:54 pm
That is a stud!
