1  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: new here, from central california on: February 16, 2011, 08:09:01 pm
Hey guys I've just moved from Texas to a little bit south of Oakdale with my Catahoula. He is in a desperate need to get in the woods and hunt, if any of y'all could help me out I'd be greatly appreciative, I'll even buy the beer or split the gas or anything I can do to help. I just really need to get my dog in the woods...but I too would really like to get out and do some hunting!  Grin Just shoot me a message if you can do anything for me. I'll gladly do what I can to repay the favor!

2  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Anyone Hog Hunt In Amarillo Area?? on: July 26, 2010, 11:10:47 pm
I live in Amarillo, and I have access to hunting land all over the Panhandle. But my dogs haven't been trained yet, and I'm currently living in Colorado until August 29. But when I get back I'll have one pup and I'll be ready to hunt. So when the time comes I'd love to meet up.

Ok so I've been lookin at branding me new pup. Can anyone help with how to get a brand registered for dogs in Texas? I've been researching and have been to the county office and nobody has been able to lead me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Krystal that is awesome! So glad to see Dolly out in the woods. I just get more and more excited for August to get here and get Hote down there and get him goin! How is Shayla doing? Seemed like she was the grittier of the two pups last time I saw them, but that was over a month ago.

9  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: I never hunt and wat to get started. on: April 24, 2010, 11:22:47 am
I'm also new to hog hunting with dogs! I am tryin to find people to hunt with in my area. I have two Catahoula pups, both have seen hogs but will not be getting trained until the summer, and even then I will only have one of them as the other is going to be a little to immature to get trained up. If anyone is in the Texas Panhandle Area I would be more than willing to split costs and help out in any other way I can just so long as I can go hunting and bring my pups along!

I'm new to hog hunting with dogs and have never been to a baying event but really want to start going to them startin next fall. I have two catahoulas that I got from south Texas. I live in Amarillo and it would not be a problem at all for me to drive the 5 or 6 hours a couple months out of the year with my dogs. What all takes place and how does it work? In the fall I will only be running one of my pups as the other one will be down south getting trained around that time. The only catagorie I'm really interested in right now is the one dog. I figure I can pick up the rest as a start goin to more events.

Thanks, Tobe

When I was about 5 or so my dad took me Auodad Hunting with him in the Canyons and he took me over to some old comanche indian burial graves and then showed me an old cowboys house that had been burned down by the indians way back in the day. That is still the neatest thing I've ever seen on a hunting trip. Although there has been a few wierd ones.

I usually just use my Remington model 700 .300WM, but I'm also partial to 12 gauge with buckshot and a .357 Magnum. At least until I get my dogs trained and can put the guns down when out of deer season.
