1  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Seroma in a dog on: May 22, 2018, 07:01:31 pm
I ended up cutting it open about an inch and flushed out with the water hose daily and a week later he's good as new. Appreciate it guys!

I have a dog that got a cut on his shoulder so I stapled it up and it's healed nicely. The problem is he developed a seroma on his shoulder/chest. Its about a baseball size pocket of fluid. I've drained it twice but it keeps reappearing. Once it reaches baseball size it doesn't seem to grow anymore. Should I just leave it alone and let it heal naturally Or keep trying to drain it?  Thanks for any advise

He doesn't mind me bending and pulling on it at all. He's gettin around a little better today so I'm thinkin that bone is just real sore. Thanks for the advise

Thank y'all. That's what I'm doin now. I was surprised he is still limpin around like he is from such a small poke so I started thinking it might have damaged cartlidge or something
7  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Cut advise on: February 21, 2017, 09:04:18 am
I got a dog that got a poke in what I guess you would call his knee. It's not a bad cut, just in a weird spot. You could see clear to the bone when it happened. He doesnt mind me poking around on it or bending the leg. Theses no sign of infection and minimum swelling but it's been 3 days and he still refuses to use the leg at all. Have any of y'all had this happen? I'm just wondering if it's still too sore for him to use or if I need to go get it checked out by the vet.

Not too much of a story here, dogs winded while goin by a feeder and we had him caught 15 yards from it. He was a raspy hog that knew how to use his teeth and worked over our crew of young dogs but nothin too serious.
10  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / A little baying and shootin on: July 02, 2016, 12:33:25 am
Turned 2 dogs loose at midnight and had group of pigs bayed up by 12:30. I shot one sow and the dogs caught a little 40lb pig when they broke. Both the dogs and I were burnin up so we called it a night pretty quick.

Nothing to tie dogs off to once the pig is caught, rubs the hide off the dogs face sometimes, and pigs will just live in the middle of the field if they are comfortable there so you can't pick up any trails going in, best to have a good wind dog, gets real hot real fast
12  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / little sow on: June 12, 2016, 12:14:48 am
Headed out to my buddies place who said he has been seeing pig sign everywhere and not 10 mins after droppin the dogs we started a race with a big ole runnin boar hog. He hightailed it straight to the backside of the place and ended up crossin the river which was still flowing pretty good and we were able to catch the dogs there and head back to the fields where we started. By this time a few sows and piglets where out in the field just waiting for us. As soon as they saw the dogs and the dogs saw them they rallied up and started chattering. my young dog that's normally pretty loose bayin was the first there and met this sow head on and caught like a dagum bulldog. I have mixed feelings about it because I prefer loose baying dogs but it was sure nice not havin to run for this one lol

Thanks guys. I'm fortunate to have some good guys in my area that are always down to hunt or work dogs which helps a lot.

There's a guy I work with who has never left the concrete jungle of Dallas and wanted to see what pig hunting was all about.  We got a little group within 20 mins of dropping dogs and caught a little sow. He was shaking so bad when I handed him the knife I was worried he might accidently get me lol
This might be the most gangster pig picture I've seen as well...

19  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Last 2 hunts on: May 05, 2016, 01:19:18 am
I've really been putting in some time here lately with a cur pup I've raised and couldn't be happier with how he is comin up.
He rolled out with the other dogs on this ole sow and hammered down with them once she finally bayed up.

With this pig I had a dang good idea of where they were bedded up and dropped him and 1 other dog out down wind from them and he winded them and got this sow stopped in a tank while my other dog was choppin down on piglets.
20  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Shed hunting on: January 15, 2016, 09:59:12 am
I don't think it does just cause all the ones I work him with are several years old but I'm sure a fresh shed is easier to smell out then one that's been laying out for a couple of years
