2  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Car help on: July 18, 2011, 09:40:30 pm
It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shuting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix...

Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.------   http://vats.likeabigdog.com/

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. For a list of cars effected by this problem. See the NEWROCKIES link on the right side of their page......... They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks.    http://newrockies.ca?ap_id=judd0081

----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey **** system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites

It works for:
Any GM or Isuzu Vehicle with VATS or PASSKey or PASSLock security systems.
If your car has the chip in the key or in the lock cylinder, then you can save it with this Full Bypass.

Here is what "Google" had to say...worth a shot lol! Good luck.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position with the engine off. Turn the key to "Start" to attempt to start the car, then release the key back to the "On" position.

 2. Observe the security indicator on the instrument panel. The security indicator LED illuminates the word "Theft." Wait about 10 minutes for the security indicator to turn off.

 3. Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position. Wait five seconds.

 4.  Repeat steps 1 thru 3, two more times for a total of three cycles.

 5.   Turn the ignition key to the "Start" position and start the car.

Pups born the first week of march, up to date on all shots, I bought 4 littermates total but have had seizures along with bone and joint deterioration issues and must go to a specialist hospital in Arizona in a few weeks and have no idea as to how long my stay will be so i wont be able to get them started and want them to go to a hunting home and possibly buy a pup out of one of these dogs sometime down the road when health issues subside.  I'm asking 50$ each which is less than half of original price i paid when they were 7 weeks old, not looking to make cash from them by any means only wanting to help speed up the process of finding a new home while i gather my medical records and prep for my trip so the faster they go the less i have to worry about their care while im away.
The dad to these pups was a full BMC and mother was 1/2catX1/2neo mastiff and pictures of the parents and pups at 5+-weeks of age can be seen by searching the breed info "1/2BMCx1/4CATx1/4 NEO Mastiff" in the dog trade forum made by the person i bought them from. his screen name is "boarwild".
Dogs are located in Sabinal, TX, James Lawson is my name and can be reached at 830-486-6835 for any additional questions you may have, email address is sjlawson@schreiner.edu although im never near a computer much anymore so phone calls or texts to the number are prefered.
5  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Bred my OLD curs to start a pack up again! Ideas/bets on how litter turns ou on: April 13, 2011, 02:30:31 pm
I can't say how they are going to turn out but I have a feeling you will have a red one or two in the litter. Grin

Good luck on them and congratulations on school! I sure like the idea of a hog hunting lawyer!

First off, thanks to all of you guys for the comments, after months of reading thru and looking at other peoples' crews I figured Id post up some pics of my own for a change! Thanks for looking, it gives me a small sense of pride even though theyre just a pair of potlickers!  Grin  Second, as for the lawyer comment, Im with ya all the way!  I stay up to date with all these B.S. proposals and law changes and all I can say is that ill have no worries of "job security" if this crap keeps up! I'll do my best to help out in the nature conservation part of it since it all falls under my first degrees in "non-renweable natural resource management" and "rangelands and wildlife management" so once I can tie the legal side of things into the mix, ill be giving them hell to keep away from what little hunting grounds we have left!  Evil
Thanks for the time! -lawdawg
6  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Bred my OLD curs to start a pack up again! Ideas/bets on how litter turns out??! on: April 13, 2011, 02:02:38 am
Just thought Id share my new breeding combo ill be raising over the summer while i relax after graduating college in under a month w/a PRE-LAW BA degree!  Afro  Glad thats over soon! just thought id ask y'alls input, predictions, and/or comments, good or bad, on how you think the litter will come out from this pair ive bred, haha. Guess im looking for your $00.02 on what this litter may have! curious as to what my odds are of having good looking&working pups come from this! let me know your thoughts, thanks! -lawdawg

SALLY is the OLD B*TCH (the one packing on the pounds!!!)A good dog and wanted 1 last litter w/her traits in the offspring before she gets too old to....you know how that goes!  Shocked I just like her build and size, her run-ins and handful of cuts&bruises have taught her to stay semi-rough and in turn developed a gritty hunting style with bottom to stay with one and bay for a while(both a good&bad thing on some ranches!), i can just see her starting to age a little bit and bred her before she runs out of go-go juice in a few seasons.

Hunt SALLY and ROCK-O attended, SALLY w/green collar and rocko w/red collar. could have that criss-crossed, cant tell from tiny thumbnail pic but the red dogs in these action shots.

Rock-O is the male here and came out of M.Chamber's stock, and has great build and it took him a little over a year-1.5yrs to learn the ropes and not hunt cow-patties but now at 2.5years, he's filled out and gets out there and hunts with the others and is getting a bit rougher on each hunt, hopefully he's learning how to keep out of the way of the ivory and wont start getting stupid-rough and get roughed up too bad!

8  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: what pain meds can u give for a bad cut dog? on: March 02, 2011, 09:04:02 pm
i took my mom's boston terrier to the vet for joint issues and they gave him a script for tramadol. this is also used in humans w/ 50mg being an average dose for humans and i believe the tablets they gave the dog were 15mg but hes only a 30lb dog so if you have an old script of tramadol/ultram laying around from a sprained ankle or something i bet that would help your dog out with pain. if not go the narcotic route previously mentioned lol, IV morphine is a sure-fire method  Tongue

16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Build your own dog leads of wire from TSC with a crimper deal?? on: February 25, 2011, 03:03:49 am
Ok i finally got the pic thing figured out thanks to Mike...Heres one of my leads and my homemade crimper

this fella' uses the same crimping tool i do, youd be better off buying a cheap pair of bolt cutters from Big Lots or some off brand cheap-o's and dulling them down a bit and adapting them to whatever suites you best, no need to buy a special gizmo for hundreds of dollars. especially when smashing em' with a hammer works too, haha, you just may need an extra set of hands for that process but whatever works i suppose.  ive also tried those tri-ribbed barrel looking "cable clamps", for the actual "cable" and not the smooth wire stuff, and is actually what i used at the start of this do-it-yourself hobby but i always had the loops slip out on me? im thinking that the cable i have may be too thin for those style cramps to get a solid grip or something and always had better luck with the furrel style cramps, but i did like the way those crimped down more flush and smooth, i just wished they held tight for me but who knows why i had that problem, could have been a mis-labled box and i bought the wrong size or something haha
The smaller hardware store where i live has several color options for the transparent tubing to use slipped over main cable for added comfort and its pennies a foot, it is in a seperate section though, and is on racks nearer the electrical supplies, so they may have it in your town too and just stashed it away in an odd place so hope that helps whoever was looking for the tubing.  I only gave up on the tubing because i tend to lose alot and/or lend one on a hunt and never see it again way too often so i rarely get to use the same one long enough to get a blister from it lol, but id have to agree that adding the tubing makes it easier on the hands and if i were to make one and know it would not vanish a month later, i'd go all out and make it with that added luxury for sure!  Cool
17  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: WHIPPET HOUNDS on: February 25, 2011, 01:49:50 am
If you find a whippet, I'd breed it to a stockier built dog for sure to give it a little bulk, full blooded whippets are rather brittle in appearance yet very smart and speedy suckers! I really like the catahoula thrown in the mix but that was just a stroke of luck finding that gyp and am very glad i did.  Even still, with catahoulas ranging in size quite a bit w/ different bloodlines and such, they are overall considered to be a fairly hefty/muscular breed, lets call 50lbs+- an average weight for most cats just for this comment's sake.  My point i guess is that even when crossed to a CAT, they can still be quite petite, my WHIPxCAT is still a very small in "bulk" when compared to my cur gyp and other friend's curs so i dont really know what to suggest crossing a whippet with for best results in getting some bulk while still keeping the leggy speed factor of the whippet.  I like her smaller, sleeker, leggier body because shes fast as hell and can get thru brush and fences like its not even there and shes still plenty gritty yet stays smart about it, so im very anxious to see how her pups come out. I bred her to a black&tanXrunning walker out of maurice chamber's old stock so technically theyll be 1/4 of each: CAT,Whippet, Black&Tan, and walker.... odd combo if ive ever heard of one!  Huh?  As for greyhounds, "down-unda' " in auzzie land they have bred bulldogs to greyhounds and some of them look beefcake and aparantly do very well! google "bullygreys" and you should pick up on some sites that show some examples of that cross, they look like a greyhound on steroids! That would be worth a shot for sure and if you do make a bully-grey litter, I WANT ONE haha! here in the next few weeks/months ill keep you posted on how the pups out of my gyp turn out with that bit of hound in them but definitely keep me updated on your ideas and breedings, i think its worth a dive into either way you go. good luck and stay in touch  -Lawson

P.S.: Heres a link i had stored on my favorites, shines some light on this topic!  http://huntingpigdog.com/index.php?page=bullgreys

my old #1 hog dog was a whippetXcatahoula but she cut her paw and is now a shorter range dog at night but during the daytime shes all over like a bat out of hell, extremely obedient too. awesome dog, she had pups 4 weeks ago too, had 12!!! but 2 died at birth but other 10 look healthy so i hope they turn out like her. fast, smart, catches up to hogs running thru fields at full speed and she comes up from the rear with grit to slow it down or catches 100lb'ers no prob yet still isnt stupid gritty, only minor nicks and burrs on her and never had a full out gash to sew up on her so very smart in my opinion. rare find but good dogs but i hear crosses are the way to go. just my 2cents, lemme know if youd like to hear anything else. -lawson

PS: here's a few pix of her

old hunt w/ lion&boarhunter, 1st hog of the night but shes always at the rear of the hogs that wind up cutting, i think 2 or 3 other dogs in that pile got pretty good cuts from that little sucker
