1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CUT GEAR FOR YOUR CATCHDOGS? on: March 11, 2020, 05:19:18 pm
I have 2 hardcore that has been through the mill and never cut through. I have a be ugly dog mason way vest that’s light and flexible. I think is going to be good. I also have a new one made by southern cross that I got from Robert Carroll at jitterbug kennels that looks good.  I know hard core is a hell of a vest and Michael is good guy to work with the others are new and still remains to be seen.

Old man like I had said before hadn’t been hunting long and had heard about people seeing this monster hog coming off of state park on foggy or rainy evenings. He was with a sounder first time I saw him bulldog had a sow caught and he cut him a threw him off of her I ran in couldn’t do anything. I week or so later I found them across the river. Dogs bayed we went around and missed that hog dogs went East when I rounded the curve he was crossing the levee dumped what dogs I had on him they bayed him and my bulldog couldn’t do anything with him but we had brought the ole 30/30 with us and put him down. Best I can remember he was 7 foot long. We have caught some Barr’s 439 lb 398 lb and so on nothing in comparison to him and a lifetime of hunting but I dang sure hope I get to see another one like him with good bulldogs and a lot more experience. Lol thanks for looking at him he set the bar high but we are still after another one like him.

Scotty, i got Lonnie Morris started. He came by the house one evening with JW McGee and told me they had been trying to hoghunt but were not having a lot of luck. I asked them if they were getting in fresh sign and he said yes. I told him plain and simple, he needed to get more dogs. lol I invited them on a hunt and I think we caught 4 or 5. He got rid of everything & got better dogs. That was in the early 90's probably 93 or 94. No better guy then Lonnie.
A buddy of mine Danny rivers carried me by Lonnie’s house and he helped me get started gave me a good bitch Houdini and I bought skeeter from Frankie. I built Me a pretty good pack with them. He gave me a lot better dogs than I think I ever bought Lol

I think I just put two and two together here, are you talking about Lonnie Morse?

Would you happen to be the Edmond from Arkansas, if so I remember about 10 years ago y'all coming down and staying and hunting with us on the red river wma back when we could hunt it...
Yes sir that’s been along time ago!!

Sure has been, I still got a daughter off Henry at a friends house, and one of the main gyps we have and use is a granddaughter to him...
Ole Henry was the meanest son of a gun I ever saw in a box with another dog but would bay a 5 lb pig and never put his mouth on it. Lol

Love mine you have to have a Birdseye card in it. Just links to collars that are on the garmin it’s linked to. You have to delete one out before you can add another handheld. I like it because you can drive and watch the screen and not run over stuff trying to look at that little screen on your handheld.

16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Transporting of Wild Hogs In Louisiana on: January 22, 2019, 05:24:34 pm
I hope I'm wrong but I believe its just  one step to another step .....  they'll tag a few with charges make a llittle news and that tamps  down the rest .....its polotic's ....with all the crime goin on we paying people to worry about somebody hauling a pig home ...... there has been people pushing for years for state hunters and trappers that can go anywhere on any private land and hunt or trap pigs and the tax payers pay for it .... I am perty sure  I seen where the new rules coming in 2017 here in Louisiana says there gonna do away with the haul permits on the wma's  pig seasons .......private landowner resistance is all that has kept the state from running all over  peoples property ........ they do such a good job  we  got  less deer populations than and state around  us  ...... why don't they just open every wma that has pigs with a hog season and us hunters  buy a  20 dollar permit to hunt it ........who wouldn't pay knowing every year these wma's would be open to hunt hogs ....and that would bring in a lot of money because some people would 3 or 4 different wma's...........believe me  these charges will get enforced  on some ..... polotic's

Yep,,, u rite Mr Larry.. It is in the proposal for 2017 season to no longer allow live carry tags for us that hog hunt wmas... and I read that they have Approved the poison thru the EPA on Jan 12th,, so it will soon be able to be bought by landowners and the feeders that are used to dispense the bait.. They say it is only effective to pigs and only pigs can get the bait out of the feeders..  U swear we being invaded by aliens or something... pitiful
Well if it’s only effective on hogs why do they need a feeder only hogs can into. It’s BS!!!
