All good things come to an end one day, at least you had a good one!  Next chapter, easier said than done.

when I feel they a physically mature enough to keep up with the big dogs .
If they can't keep up, your training them to not finish the race.

You would get a lot farther faster tagging along with someone else if that is your situation.  If you have to own a dog get a (good) catch dog.  They are always welcome on a hunt.

May be interfering with another collar, if so you can change it in settings.  But more than likely it's the antenna, change it and try it out.

A dog worthy of eating feed, other than pups or bulldog.

9  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: ATF ban on certain 5.56 ammo on: February 17, 2015, 03:24:36 am
Apparently the ATF and fed gov have screwed the U.S. citizens over enough, they are proposing to change the definition of AP ammo, plus these firearms manufactures got around the SBR rule by making sbrs into pistols and classify the "new" weapon as a pistol. So thanks to them and the 1% of the criminals and the criminalizes federal government, the commonly used green tip 5.56 ammo (green tip indicates a lil bitty piece of steel in front of the lead core) is now being considered as armor piercing. Maybe the feds should look at how they treat the citizens and our constitution. Then ammo wouldn't need to be regulated and reclassified.
Thanks for explaining I seeing it everywhere about band but had no idea what it was about other than paint.

I'm all about speed, but like bingo said they have to have other tools also, nose and brains, and let's top it off with good stock dog baying style. Without confirmation you don't have much longevity.  I'm not asking anyone to agree, but it is the requirements to be on the payroll at my house.

Judge I agree with you somewhat, on overthinking it.  But I do believe I catch more rank hogs hunting alone, quietly choosing my path to the bay.  I have a bulldog that picks and chooses her path to a bay, not hardly breaking a twig. I do believe that it helps catching them smart ones when the bull dogs don't go crashing in advertising they are coming.  If I only have a couple of dogs baying I do believe the hogs know when I get close if they have been bayed before.   After all, every time they get away we are educating them!

Sounds to me like the hog is a runner and you are encouraging him to run.  If he is baying until you get close, then running, it could be you are causing it him to break. Are you going in down wind?  how much noise are you making going in?  Are you going in alone in stealth mode? Or going in with several others, sound like a bull in the woods.  Does your bulldog make a lot of noise and bust brush, or does he just ease into the bay?

I'm no pit expert, but it seems the "blues" may of had some other breeds thrown into the mix ,, and that is why some folks see they have a lil less heart than other favors of pits.  To some folks on the street, color is primary importance and they'll add anything to the recipe to get blue.

All I know is, they weren't blue 50 years ago!!!

I may not be correct but didn't they get the blue color from the mastiff blue fighting dogs, that were used to attack soldiers in war.  Could that be why most pit attacks are from blue pits.
I'm not saying they are all bad,  I'm just talking.

I haven't this year, my age is starting to catch up real fast.  I usually hunt alone as often as with others.  I only take 1 or 2 dogs cur dogs and a bull dog.  it's very difficult to lead more than two dogs out of the woods. Sometimes I Cary a gun and shoot over curs, some times a pistol, just in case, but mostly just a real good bulldog.  You are putting your safety in their hands, you better be able to count on them.  More often than not when hunting alone is when it seems you catch the big nastys.  And when you have plenty if help it's a pig catching.   Lol
