HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: new pen

Hey man, I know a guy up in my area that has a fenced hunting pen and he told me it's not a deal at all to get the permit. I think he said the game dept sends sombody out to look at your pen, and I'm not 100% sure about that, anyway you just fill out a form and pay a fee, don't know how much but it's not a lot, and that's it. That deal was put in to placate the farmers in SW Ok to make them feel like the state was really trying to help and then there was no money to enforce the policy. Typical political BS. They can wrack you if they want to but most times they don't bother you if you're not famous for letting them get out, or there after you for another reason and they use the hogs to come in. Just call the wildlife dept and they can fix you up easy. Good luck.

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / I've got a question. Help me out?
|
on: October 14, 2011, 08:17:23 pm

First let me say I've been running pigs with dogs for about 6 or 7 years but my experience is very limited with anything other than my buddy and I's way of hunting. I've never been with anyone else's dogs so that may explain this simple question... What do you guys consider a "rough pack of dogs"? Do you mean catch as soon as they see it virtuallty without concern for size or do you mean to put alot of teeth on one to keep him screwed in the ground? My dogs are loose I'd say and I like that because we seldom put in a staple but I also feel like some of our chases are a little long cause of this. They do put teeth on one but just not what I'd call rough. Anyway, just wondering how you fellas classify a rough dog. Thanks, Kelly
