41  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Last couple hunts on: March 12, 2017, 08:27:46 am
Couple of nice hogs cracker. Hope your dog heals well.
That is funny when you part the brush and don't find what you expected!
42  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Team Indian Valley Ranch/Randy Bumpurs 2017 on: February 28, 2017, 07:07:57 pm
Thanks Judge. She was by far the biggest sow most of us in the group had ever seen.
Hope your dogs heal up quickly

Can't tell you how much fun it was .  Like Jameson said, I laughed till I felt like I'd been doing setups. Awesome bunch of guys and a great catch. Payden and Pearl still have a sore foot! Hahaha
I look forward to the next hunt with you guys.
44  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Too old to care on: February 01, 2017, 07:59:57 pm
I asked Jameson the first time I saw ol Joe what he was bred like. Never once did he admit to there being any black lab in him, said Mike denied it too. Well, I saw it for myself and he did an outstanding job of it! Hahaha it was hilarious.

Damn it man. Good hog! looks awsome with the cave as a background. I would hate that something terrible. I'm claustrophobic as heck. haha Good job.
46  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Indian Valley Ranch Wooded Enclosure Open To The Public on: September 23, 2016, 10:13:28 pm
I can speak to this pen. It is a great place to get a pup started on the game you're after or shake the rust off of an older dog. I plan on bringing Rip, Pearl and the others down when it cools off Britt. Glad to hear you're opening it up.
47  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: BIG announcement!! on: September 03, 2016, 10:00:43 pm
Well they made it. Amy was beautiful and Yankee was proud. Nice crowd and great food and drink.
48  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / BIG announcement!! on: September 02, 2016, 09:44:04 am
Jameson is making the big leap tomorrow night ( Sept 3) and getting married. Known as JMESONP1 on the board.
Congratulations Jameson and we'll be there with bells on. It's quite a curvey road you've traveled since you showed up to look at the dogs and visit one evening a few years ago. We wish you and Amy the very best.
49  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: I always wondered why I never saw a black Panther on: July 21, 2016, 11:17:37 am
I won't say I have seen one because the two times I THINK I have I wasn't sure. I will say however that I saw a large cat track about a half mile south of your house a few years ago Jmesonp1. This was before you moved down here. I took a picture of it with a skoal can in it but the sun made it hard to see. Like I said, I can't say I've seen one; but I know people that have that aren't lying. As far as that goes, I don't see bobcats as often as you should for as many as there are around. Seldom see their tracks either. I know people that live in the badlands of SD, that is the most dense lion population in the United States so I hear, and they've never seen one. Red has a plaster cast of one from north of here a little way that he's had for years. He told the woman it was just a big dog track because for years the government guys had to deny they were here or they'd get fired. Till I see one with my own eyes I won't 100% say they are here but I know in my mind they are and have been periodically for years. Not a population of them perhaps but individual lions travelling at least. People didn't think we had bears in Oklahoma either for years.

PS: I also believe in Sasquatch. I saw him walking through my kitchen last night after his shower! haha

JDT, I was talking to Mr Scott a few years back when we got our first ones from him; he has had a lot of dogs in the past that were used as herding dogs as well as catch dogs. They were just farm dogs. They caught when they were supposed to and worked when they were supposed to. Keep in mind though that the more time you spend with any dog the more they know what you expect and want from them. I raised a Scott bred female that went to the ranch with me from about 3 1/2 months old, and rode through hundreds of yearlings and never made a bobble. When I sorted one off and roped it she caught it. As soon as I turned him loose she was right back to trotting along beside me. She was a little hard to get off once she caught but I never had to tie her back or anything like that. After a few she got easier to get to let them go. Then she ate one of the boss's wife's decorative little pumpkins and I couldn't take her anymore. Dumb bit@@. Not the dog!  Grin
51  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Little Okie Style fishin on: April 05, 2016, 05:18:35 pm
You can keep 1 per day. They are good to eat if you clean them properly. We brine them all, then cook them however we want. You can even cook them like a steak on the grill. My wife smokes some of them and makes a dip that ain't too shabby on butter crackers. Most of the time it's a catch and release deal. They are a workout when you hit it right. We did hit them right this past weekend! Lot's of fun and sore muscles.

Britt Garcia and Mike Bolen came up to visit with Jameson and I this weekend and while there, we took advantage of the spoonbill run that's hot and heavy right now. They looked like they'd had plenty of fun when it was all over!
54  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: An old timer and 2 jack russells! on: April 04, 2016, 04:43:47 pm
That's a great story. Like you, I hope I'm doing that good at his age. Good job Justin. Good deeds come back around to you. Heck of a hog by the way!
55  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: What Were We Thinking!!! on: March 31, 2016, 05:55:56 am
I won't speak for anyone else Britt, but I've never met a nicer, more accommodating group of guys than you're friends  and your dad down there. I had a ball! We did what we said we wanted to do and that was have a great time doing what we love to do. We did that to the fullest. Thank you Britt for all the leg work you put into the hunt securing places etc as well as your wife's cinnamon rolls and chicken spaghetti. They were both excellent. Cory and Bo, you guys sure didn't have to do what you did for us and we appreciate it a lot. We'd love to have you come up and give our pigs a run one of these days. Between the alligator and snake infested swamps and the 900 thorn bushes per sq foot pine forests; you guys are a tough bunch!! It was an experience to see the different terrain. We had a ball. Can't wait till next year when we can all say, "what were we thinking??", again.
Chance, if you're reading this, I truly enjoyed riding around with you the whole weekend. You are a great kid and tuff as heck. Hang in there BS'r

58  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Successful night hunt with K-bar on: March 13, 2016, 08:53:49 pm
Yank and I were talking about that last night. We're excited to give those Tejas swine a whirl and have a great time in the process.
59  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: What type of chaps you were hunting? on: March 12, 2016, 09:07:45 am
I don't know anyone that wears leather leggins to hunt full time. I've seen pictures of some hands wearing them on the forums. We've talked about it some but never pulled the trigger to do it. I would say a light weight set of chinks would be handy if you're in the thorns a lot. I used to work for a guy that had  a set of chinks that felt like thick paper! they were leather of course but they were very light and very soft. They would have been awsome to hunt in. They just barley went below the knee.
60  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Successful night hunt with K-bar on: March 12, 2016, 08:25:29 am
It was pretty sweet being in the open like that. Not one single hedge tree or locust or catclaw vine anywhere to be seen.  Wink I just wish it would have been in the daylight.
I'm sure we'll pay for it next time.
