Yeah, I was disappointed I didn’t get to make sausage out of this one. It’s just one of them deals where we didn’t have time to do anything with her. She was barring and would have made some fine sausage.

Well I haven’t been on here in a while so I figured I’d get on and tell the last hunt we went on. It was about 3 weeks ago, I had hogs coming to my feeder pushing the deer off so I loaded Sammy, Lady, Daisy, and Scout. We kicked them out at the feeder and less than 100 yds caught 200lb sow bedded up. Shortly after they bayed a nice boar on the hill of the neighbors property so we walked in a fired the bulldog. Swing and miss, so they set out and nearly 4 hours later they show bayed at little over 2 miles. We go around on highway and turn off onto county road and into another property that somewhat borders where we kicked out. We drive within 200 yds, get out walk up to the creek bank and there he stands bayed for the second time and this time we got to really lay eyes on him. He was a solid hog, somewhere around 230 I imagine. We fire little red again and he was just too much for one lil ole bulldog to handle. It starts to get pretty hot so we make it around in front of the dogs and cut them off to call it a day.

It’s been some time since I last posted so I figured I would share my last hunt.
Well I loaded up the crew and headed over to a buddy’s place that’s known for big toothy hogs. We started close to his house and the dogs ended up going close to 1.5 miles on the alpha. We started to them and found them on the neighbors property behind their chicken houses. We talked to the man and it was fine so we kept hunting. So from where we picked the dogs up we went maybe 200 more yards and found fresh sign so dumped them out and 5 minutes later they were singing. As we both the bulls off the ranger the bay broke and it got quiet for a couple minutes until they opened up. We had split bays- 1 at just 200 yards and another at 800. We got to the first one and my Lucky dog and pup were hammering on a solid 180 lb boar in a sho nuff saw briar patch. Sent the bulls and sealed the deal. Lucky rolled over immediately and was bayed with the rest of the crew, now at 600 yards. We walked in and had my old gyp Sammy, her son Brindle, and my two FredxSoka gyps Lucky and Daisy bayed solid along with a couple more dogs on the hunt. As we followed a dry water crossing, it lead us to a water gate on a high fence. Ole big boy had no where to go. We sent em one more time and put hand on a solid 230 lb tusky boar. (I failed to mention we started the hunt with another group of guys) We met back up with the other crew and caught another small boar shoat that my Brindle dog found. It was a great hunt and I’m ready for late January!

Looks here fellas! It wasn't good enough to have ole lucky. I had to get her litter mate sister too Daisy! My goodness I have high hopes for this little gyp this year and I want to give a big shout out to RyanTBH for making all of this happen! I know we're both looking forward to seeing how she turns out. I'm super pumped!

FM= a road that's not as number 2ty as a county road but also not good enough to be called a highway. And 90% of the time, atleast where I'm from, the fm roads are almost just as bad as driving on county roads.

Had a few days off last week during the middle of the week so decided to gamble on deer hunters being gone and lucked out without getting anything shot lol
Caught 4 on 2 hunts. Took everything I owned and cut everything loose but the bulldog lol less then 5 minutes we had bays in every direction. Tied a fat sow and 50 yards from the ranger, dogs rolled over and caught another smaller guilt in the creek and called it a day. Went back the next day and hunted across the creek and tied 2 boat hogs. Jumped them both bedded down in the wide open. Cut everything loose behind them and bayed and caught a nice black hog. Lucky rolled out to a mile and went to her and ended up catching her before she got on another property. Was walking back to the ranger and was shooting the number 2 when all of a sudden the wind swirled and all dogs started going crazy, so cut lucky and Sammy loose and lucky went 570 and started hammering cut a pup to her and all three dogs were choppin. Ended up catching a bigger hog than the first one. Was gonna cut both hogs but bigger hog was in a bad thicket with nothing to climb up so we killed him but went back and barred ole blacky. In all was a very nice hunt for being locked up for 4 months.

Well August must not be my month....
Last weekend got 3 dogs cut. 2 pretty bad but they are coming along just fine. Wednesday morning went to same spot as previous weekend and my lucky dog struck a good boar. Walked in within 10 yards but never could see the hog, sent pearl in and he chunked her straight up in the air and never seen him again. Lucky tracked him all the way back where she started him little over a mile away. Pulled up to the creek and she was laying at the bank licking a wound. The hog had nearly gutted her, her stomach lining was hanging out so I pushed it back up inside her best I could and wrapped her in a shirt and took her to the vet. Overnight stay and 500 bucks later she's doing fine and back home. But wait there's more.......
Thursday- my brother wants to go again but I'm completely outta dogs at this point. 1 started pup and a stove up bulldog is all I have, so I get on the phone and a friend says to use his dogs. They need to get out of the kennels to shaping up so we head to another spot and start huntin. It's not long before The 2 gyps bay one. As we're headed to them the old gyp Kate lets out a Yelp and the hog breaks and she stays with him but starts falling behind the other gyp. Well we catch up to her and she's been cut behind the shoulder. He had cut the meat between the ribs and busted that lining, so air was coming out of her side. So we catch other dog and head back to the vet. Bet said with her age and the operation she had to do that she didn't think Kate was going to make it but she pulled through and another 150 bucks later Kate's at home resting up to hunt another day. If I can ever get these dogs healed up, I'm gonna have a bounty on a couple rank boar hogs lol
Money is something we can replace but these 2 dogs that both had close calls are 2 of a kind that cannot... I'm so thankful for the man above to have been looking out for me this week. Can't wait to get these dogs healed up right and get back to catching some swine.
