Yeah mike, they have issues.
Rueben I run off baits in Wisconsin and Michigan. Run off rig strikes in western states. Don’t cast these dogs much for bear but have on hogs around home.

The Jonet dog is just over a year and doing most everything I could expect at his age. Making a nice dog.
As for the Shamrock dogs, Joe Hudson has been consistently catching bear with the same strain for decades so they are time tested and proven bear dogs. They have lost the famous grit they were known for over the last ten years. Too many unfortunate incidents robbed him of his overly gritty dogs, but he's still catching plenty!

Rueben, I have Bluff creek / Shamrock, couple Ursus, a Gosnell and a Jonet dog on the yard right now.

How is that Jonet dog?

Living the dream my man...

Great pics.  The one on the right, looks like they are waiting their turn to get to the tree. Yall get to run many while you were in the UP? Also is that Rhino lining on the hood for a rigging platform.
Yeah, its roll on Rhino liner. We only ran two in the five days I was there spent too much time looking for big bear. One day had 8 baits with sows and cubs. The two we ran the dogs did well and got em treed.

Trashy is just a joke between me and Mike. They are Plott bear dogs.

12  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Thermal/Night Vision Impact on: September 13, 2019, 10:05:57 am
The main impact is landowners thinking they no longer need dogs if they have shooters and choppers. Still cant get the smart ones without dogs.

I'll take 6 when you find a consistent breeder of that dog.
14  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter & Hog Dogger on: August 05, 2019, 05:22:34 pm
That video will be just as destructive as the rest on the internet. No voter will care that Steve Irwin liked to dog a hog. Its still a violent scene with a squealing hog.
15  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / New Mexico rule changes on: July 29, 2019, 03:49:11 pm
New Mexico has new wild life commissioners appointed by the new governor. They are holding public meetings to discuss rule changes for bear and cougar for 2020-2024 seasons. I shared the commissioners info on Facebook but I don't think FB is letting people see it. At any rate if you can spare a few minutes, email the commissioners and let them know you oppose any rule change that eliminates or restricts the use of dogs.

16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Broken Bow Oklahoma?? on: July 26, 2019, 07:39:22 am
The hogs are scattered in the big woods area but there are plenty to catch if you look hard enough. I hunt north of there quite a bit. If you find the flop eared type, don't be too hard on them.

This here topic (which is 100% opinion based) is getting pretty heated! Hey Mike, can we invite Oconee back for a special guest debate???
19  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / 1st successful cat hunt in 27 years. on: January 18, 2019, 02:14:33 am

Huge thank you to Lion and Boar hunter for taking me on a cat hunt. I've hunted with dogs since 1992 and have attempted to bobcat hunt with my bear dogs countless times. Finally got to see what real bobcat dogs look like.
