HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Swine kidney worms

We see it a lot on bigger hogs. When I was growing up in we would always catch big Barrs in the fall and pen them up and corn feed them before butchering. Sometimes you’d have one buckle (get weak and crippled in the hind end) from kidney worms. We would pour turpentine down their back and they’d get over it.

I love my Clue pup. She’s a natural. She’s not a year yet and works cattle like a grown dog. Really listens and has a pretty good handle too.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Rock in dog yard?
|
on: October 24, 2018, 09:56:05 pm

I’m wanting to fix my dog yard up. I keep my dogs on chain and tired of em digging holes. I was wondering if any of y’all have your dogs on rock. I just want it to look nice and sanitary. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Helping the farmers.

Had some farmers having trouble after getting their corn in the ground. We met up and turned some pups out. They left out and wasn't long they got bayed. After that, it was back to back. We like to catch and tie, but we had to make a showing on this deal. We shot a bunch and caught and tied several good hogs. Had to call it a day a little too soon to process the meat. I think we ended up with close to 15 hogs. All with 4 pups (3 were just under 2yo littermates and 1 -10 month old pup). We were sure proud of them. Also got to see a solid white deer and picked up a few sheds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good deal JH. Don't get any better than that. And y'all don't even have to pick the briars out. We used to bay em in the road, but that's when it was still a lot of the old stock and not these Russians.

I would in a heartbeat if they're both good dogs and they're what you really like. I hunted for years with Mr. Orval Roberts. His saying was "breed close and keep your hammer handy".

Thank y'all. Hey that bulldog was a freebie that my buddy picked up. The momma was a pit but they thought the daddy was a lab. He took a chance caused they looked full blood. He's a good natured dog, just not sure of the breeding.
