1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Swine kidney worms on: February 24, 2021, 11:02:12 pm
We see it a lot on bigger hogs.  When I was growing up in we would always catch big Barrs in the fall and pen them up and corn feed them before butchering. Sometimes you’d have one buckle (get weak and crippled in the hind end) from kidney worms. We would pour turpentine down their back and they’d get over it.

I love my Clue pup.  She’s a natural.  She’s not a year yet and works cattle like a grown dog.  Really listens and has a pretty good handle too.
5  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Rock in dog yard? on: October 24, 2018, 09:56:05 pm
I’m wanting to fix my dog yard up.  I keep my dogs on chain and tired of em digging holes.  I was wondering if any of y’all have your dogs on rock.  I just want it to look nice and sanitary.  Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

10  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Helping the farmers. on: March 31, 2018, 06:03:37 pm
Had some farmers having trouble after getting their corn in the ground. We met up and turned some pups out. They left out and wasn't long they got bayed. After that, it was back to back. We like to catch and tie, but we had to make a showing on this deal. We shot a bunch and caught and tied several good hogs. Had to call it a day a little too soon to process the meat. I think we ended up with close to 15 hogs. All with 4 pups (3 were just under 2yo littermates and 1 -10 month old pup). We were sure proud of them. Also got to see a solid white deer and picked up a few sheds.

12  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Good day on: March 25, 2018, 05:07:25 pm
Well, we gathered up yesterday to go after a dog wrecker. Been on this hog a couple times. He always managed to cut up dogs and get away.  We unloaded and rode about a mile to his turf.  Dogs went in and bayed him in the bed. We got some really good video.  Then he beat the catch dogs off and broke. They stopped him about 100yds and he did it again. This time he about ran over one of our guys on the road and he put a 30-30 in him. We doctored dogs and went to another spot. We caught a couple small hogs and noticed Eddie's old jip was gone. We tracked to her and while riding some pups went a bayed a good barr. We didn't have any catch dogs so we shot him. We didn't figure he'd stay alive tied anyway. Pretty rough country and it had heated up. We gutted him and got him out of the woods to a cooler. The barr weighed 280lbs without guts and vitals. We then went back and cooked fajitas. It was a good day.

15  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: 2-28-18 hunt on: February 28, 2018, 09:07:41 pm
Good deal JH. Don't get any better than that. And y'all don't even have to pick the briars out.  We used to bay em in the road, but that's when it was still a lot of the old stock and not these Russians.
16  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Breeding question on: February 26, 2018, 10:16:02 pm
I would in a heartbeat if they're both good dogs and they're what you really like.  I hunted for years with Mr. Orval Roberts. His saying was "breed close and keep your hammer handy".
17  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: 2/23/18. Another bad hunt. on: February 26, 2018, 10:10:42 pm
Sorry to hear about your losses. At least you ain't raising those cheerleaders. Sounds like they're tending to business. I'll pray you don't lose anymore.

Thank y'all.  Hey that bulldog was a freebie that my buddy picked up. The momma was a pit but they thought the daddy was a lab. He took a chance caused they looked full blood.  He's a good natured dog, just not sure of the breeding.
