sounds like she's out of a merle to merle breeding. Blindness and deafness is just something that comes with that type of breeding and is chance folks takes. Does she have a pink nose? pink in her ears? pink around the eyes. Merle to merle breeding can be done with out having these types of problems. Just something to watch when your buy'n pups.... Good luck with her

may be fungus or allergies. shoot a little WD-40 on it. I had a old walker female that would chew on her feet and had a fungus growth that looked a lot like that. I would give her 4 benadryls and shoot a little wd on her and it seemed to help a bunch. Vaseline over the top of it might help too. But I would still take it to the vet to make sure what it is.

post a little picture of the pup. In American Leopard curs it's something you got to watch for if you breed merle to merle. Thats normally when you'll get all white pups or pups with a lot of white and albino traits. This will sometimes lead to Deaf and Blind pups. I'd try to get my money back 2.

I wouldn't breed her until she was proven. I really wouldn't breed her at all if she was a 2,3 or 4 year old late bloomer and I mean at all. Who would ? Why take that chance of passing those types of genes to their litter. No matter how good the male dog is, it might take you a year and half just to see what you got. And you might be in the same place you started when you bred her. I sure wouldn't feed a pack of yard dogs for 3 years before I could hunt them. You should be breeding to improve your stock. JMO

try to get it to update. I hit the wrong button on my garmin one night and it started to update and download on the collar. I shut the stupid thing off by mistake not knowing what I did. I finally got it to connect and it finished updating and I haven't had any trouble since.

I like to start ones that have never been on a lead by pairing them up. I put'm with a dog thats already broke. seems like they calm down a little with another dog on the leash.
But I'm with the others when it comes to a chain. You could try a cable run. may help a little

very good thread. One of the most important things you can do is pair up your dogs. Like genes to Like genes. Once you get that and you raise a litter and you can see what you got you can line breed. If you got a stud dog that has a loud bawl locate then pair it up to a bitch with a loud bawl or a loud chop. Put cold nose to cold nose, large frame to large frame and above all for me the most important brains to brains. The more you pair your two dogs up, the better chance for you to raise what you wanna hunt. I took my male dog that was a half brother to my female. Both have the same mother, just different fathers. Both are a lot a like. Both loud bawls and chop bawls. Both built the same. Both really cold noses. Both have a tun of heart and grit. And both are really smart and have a great personality. The only difference was this. Male dog is a harder tree dog. Female was a faster track dog. We'll see what I'll get in February.....
Once you get started you can always tweak it a little. More bottom, more muscle, more nose or what ever you want. Just be sure to bring in something that pairs up in the other categories. What a lot of folks will do is keep a the best from the first litter. breed the pair again and keep the best from that litter. the start breeding the two litters together. male from one litter to female from the other litter. it's a brother sister cross just not a litter mate brother sister cross. You'll need to outcross at some point. It's up to you but I would bring in something that was a litter mate to the original sire or dam that you first crossed and put it into the line. Just make sure that whatever you bring in has those LIKE characteristics that you like.
good luck with your breeding program

Cory I may be able to get you a leopard/ walker cross. I'll know today. It'll be about 4 months old red leopard. I'm also am try'n to get my old american leopard cur back from my buddy from San Antonio. I would breed her for you with my american leopard here at the house and give her to you. Very tight line bred but it would make for some awesome pups. Still working on that deal. I will let you know what I can get for you. But I do hope to find you something.....

254-631-9883 makr112867@yahoo.com.... Hey guys my buddy in oklahoma picked up a ukc reg leopard hound. Here is what he posted about her. Give him a call. I don't know anything about her other than she is a show champion and she has had a couple of litters. here is what he wrote on the ukc site...... be sure to call him and not me. Thanks. I have a female for sale she is a GR CH on the bench she will be 3 on the 4th of July. She was Bred one time and she had 12 pups and she raised all 12. She was the 2010 first place Leopard for the year and last year she ended up number 8th so that tells you she is well built and meets the Leopard Standard. Her short fall to me is she wasn't hunted much and thats why I'm selling her as a Brood female. I don't need her because right now with my two pups, Cain and Spazz I will be busy with them. I've taken her hunting twice and she run track with mostly a chop mouth with a few Bawls we nade one tree and she was there but didn't tree I showed her a cage coon and she showed alot of grit and she treed hard so its in her she just wasn't given a chance from what I can tell. I'll post a couple pics of her in a hour or so. She's out of: Sire Ch CHESNEY'S WOODSIDE KIRBY Dam RAGING VOO DOO I'll take $300 or might take something in trade on her! My cell is 580 2848378 if you would like to call. call him up.

My problem with putting the daddy on the daughter is that one male parent is in Tn. and the other is deep south texas. I would rather go with the male in Tn. because of his bloodline. I will probably make the cross with what I have now, then put the male dog back on to his daughter. It's a start. I'm really thinking that I'm 3 years away from a complete line that will have the best of both. Time will tell.
thanks guys

I'm really enjoying the thread guys. Line breeding and inbreeding is heavy in the leopard cur dogs. I've been working on my line for a few years now and I'm about to make my first true line breeding. I'm breeding a female to a male that are half brother/ sister. Both dogs have the same mother just different daddy's. The female came out more of a track dog. She is super smart. Super cold nose. Minds great. Has a good size station and cur build and a bawl mouth. The male dog is more of a tree dog. He hangs hard on the tree. Minds pretty good. Med to cold nose. Same size station, but a lot more ear and houndy looking. Bawl on track and chop on tree. Their dads where like night and day when it came to looks and hunt'n styles. The females daddy had a cold nose. Same size station. Very very houndy looking with long ears and a big bawl mouth. The male pups dad was more cur looking. Short short ears. Same size of station. A little heavier coated and a chop mouth.
The female picked up traits of her mother such as The brains, ear length, color, grit, natural gameyness and coat length . She picked up traits from her dad such as the bawl mouth, cold nose and endurance and be'n very friendly and social.
The male picked up traits from his mother such as mouth, station size, and grit, and natural gameyness. He picked up traits from his dad such as tree ability, chop mouth ( maybe from dad) and his little longer coat.
I'm hope'n to get pups that have the track drive'n ability with hard tree'n ability, cold nose, bawl mouth, same size station and brains. The male pup came out a lot more houndy looking with a lot more than the mother or father. Must have been something in the gene pool. Both parents have parents that have houndy dogs in there peds. I just didn't expect to get a pup thats real houndy.
I'm hope'n to take this and run with it, if it works out. I hoping to combine the traits of both pups. Then cull and do it again. I figure to take the best out of that litter then put it onto a pup out of the next litter out of the same cross. A brother and sister cross, but out of different litters.
Hope it works. and I will take any suggestions.
thanks
mike

I see where yall have been asking and wondering about leopard curs. My american leopard curs/hounds are ukc reg. The main difference between leopard curs and leopard cats are the ears, nose and be'n an open mouth on track dogs. They do have a great cold nose. The ears are set lower on the head and hang lower and the open like a hound on track and they tree. The have a lot of brains, heart and character. Most cats I've been around and seen are larger muscular built dogs. I'm really love'n mine. I was able to get a couple dogs that you can trace their bloodlines all the way back to the 60's and 70's. I remember reading an article in full cry where they were try'n to get the mountain cur guys to change over their breed to a "hound" back in 2004 or 2005 in full cry. I think the leopard guys just went because the mountain cur boys wouldn't. To me they have put too much hound in them now since UKC took it over. The hound guys have really added a lot more ear and made them a larger dog. Use to be most of the leopard curs were 30 to 45 lbs females and 45 to 60 or so pound males. Now you can see a 90 to 100 lbs male dog. And they have made them more of a go yonder dog. I like my curs. They hunt close like the old curs, they have a good cold nose, they have the smaller shorter ears and muzzles. They are the smaller body and size. Yall are more than welcome to come coon hunt'n with me if you want. Here are a couple pictures of mine Bubby on a tree Patches on the tree Bubby on tree
