Had a boar coming up to the pens that out ran us and took the dogs to a big last weekend. He started coming back in to the pens again mid week this week. Came up with a new plan and brought Soco this week. Shane White and his cat Tank and James White and his Unicorn Woodrow split up in the pasture, I stayed on the Ranger with Soco, and Papa and his son drove up to the pens to push him out to the pasture. He came out and headed towards the creek this time, I ran him down on the ranger and got Soco about 20 yards from him and cut him lose, it was a little close to the wood line than I though but Soco sucked him up prety fast and shut him down. I got down to leg him and Tank comes flying in and knocks me off haha, he barked once and grabbed the other ear so I let them go and waited on Woodrow, caught him, put him in the box then got the pig fliped, tied, and barred. Im guessin him at around 180 lbs. It was a good quick hunt! Probably fifteen min from start till the pig was in the pen including picture time haha! Video after the catch http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=183006275117496James, Me, Shane Papa and his son Good Hog and good hunt! Sure would like to hunt with those dogs of yours again.

Boogie is a 3.5 year old red cur dog that Big E owns. For the last few months our good buddy JJ has been hunting him up in Gods Country north of us. About 3 weeks ago JJ came home from work and saw that hogs had hot the feeders behind his house. So at 730 am he turned Boogie and 2 of his dogs, slim and tonto loose. He caught 3 hogs right off the bat and then the dogs split with Tonto and Slim baying a good boar hog and boogie falling bayed 1/2 mile out. JJ could tell it was a young fat boar so he decided to leave his two dogs working that boar and went to Boogie.. Hog after hog, boogie kept baying and rolling off. After 2 hours and still not being able to catch Boogie he went back to his 2 which were still hammering on that fat boar and got him caught. Finally at 3:30 that afternoon JJ got his hands on Boogie at the last hog He caught 11 total that day and 7 in front of Boogie by hisself!! Boogie is some kind of open cur dog though. When he's hunting he'll usually give one bark when he's getting close to finding the hog and then will straight sing to one while running! You hear people talk about open dogs not being able to catch hogs and so on.. Too me it doesn't matter a dog is either a hog dog or not, regardless of open or tight mouthed. The good ones get it done no matter what... Enjoy! More of a story, than pictures. JJ's phone died so he only got the first one boogie Sounds like a great hunt! 11 HOGS!!!? wow! I like the look of that red dog... Would love to put him with our dogs on a trail. Is he gritty?

Josh Cole, Caleb Sanderson, and I all met up for dinner then loaded the dogs and kicked the out on Caleb's place. Hunted for a few hours with any sign or interest from the dogs. After reading around his ranch for about 7 miles the dogs started running up and down a goat wire fence. I dropped lacy back out and opened the gate for the dogs. They all headed in. Lacy went out a little under 600 yards and struck. Most of the dogs were back at this point but the pig started workin back towards us. He got within 150 yards and the dogs shut him down. We walked Maddox in to about thirty yards and cut him lose. Got in there, Floyd and Ann (joshes young plot) were each on an ear, Maddox (joshes cd) was caught on the jaw, and both Caleb's cur dogs were wearing the hogs front legs out. He was around 140 lbs. Got him tied and in a stock trailer. We finished a holding pen at joshes the next day. Josh Maddox Ann Caleb Me I agree with Jeff... That Lacy is one hell of a dog. Good hunt guys!

good hog! Sorry to hear about the dog... sucks but it's part of it. That is why we try and give them the advantage with cut vests, and cut collars. Sucks loosing a friend, but at least he died doing what he loved. RIP Fatbooy

This can be cross posted and most came off Face Book but makes all Hog Hunters look back and pictures of dogs on hogs can land you in court. Think If you'll look at the link to the Examiner's story near the bottom there is a case already in the courts about pictures of catch dogs catching a hog. Hunters need to think, hog hunters are being classified as inbred low lifes. http://www.examiner.com/american-pit-bull-in-national/beware-pit-bulls-sought-by-texas-hog-huntersBeware....pit bulls sought by Texas hog hunters Add a comment Cindy Marabito, American Pit Bull Examiner October 31, 2011 - Like this? It seems a group of hog hunters is seeking to ‘adopt’ pit bulls and bully breed dogs to use in this sport which is no better than dog fighting, to participate in watching animals tear each other apart. These ‘sportsmen’ are simply dog fighters who’ve found a way to torture animals for their personal enjoyment. The Friends of Arlington Animal Services Facebook page was actually contacted to help this group acquire pit bulls to use in hog hunting. Both their Facebook and Craigslist pages have been removed, but the threat of harming innocent animals is rampant. The Friends of Arlington Animal Services are trying to warn other shelters and rescue groups to beware of these individuals. This particular group of hog fighters are suspected to be friends and seem to be inter-related. Aaron Ogden · Broker Associate at The Kimball Group Hog hunters use a variety of different breeds including hounds, labs, and even irish wolfhounds. It's a legitimate job for many canines. I don't know this group so I don't know if they're legit but it can be a fine home for a dog that has an extremely high drive and need for a "job". Again, not condoning this group as I know nothing about them, just talking about the job/sport in general. Some of the happiest, healthiest, and well cared for dogs I've ever met have been hog hunting dogs of a variety of breeds. It typically wouldn't be a good fit for a rescue dog in my opinion as all rescues should be fixed and that typically will diminish a lot of the drive aspect needed in a hunting dog. Again, not saying it's a good idea, I just don't think discriminating against a legit hunting sport is right. Then we would be no better than the people that discriminate against Pit Bulls in general. This is a historical use of the pit bull terrier and while I don't personally hunt myself, I think it is a great use of the dog. Especially considering the rampant problem with wild hogs all over the US. Reply · 2 · · 3 hours ago Aaron Ogden · Broker Associate at The Kimball Group I love how people are all against it, but wait til there are wild hogs running through their neighborhoods and wait til one attacks a child. Especially in some places like Texas. One of my friends, who lives in a suburban area had a pack of wild pigs that came through his property and did about 10k in damage and charged at his wife. I suspect peoples perspectives will change once they realize how much of an issue this is truly becoming. Much more than dogs is needed to combat this however. (I think that's a nice way to say these low life's are INBRED!) Please share to all Texas and surrounding areas - this is just the latest sick abuse of pit bulls. Reply · 5 · · 3 hours ago They do not realize that us "Hogdoggers" not "hog fighters" get to our dogs and get them off of the hogs as fast as possible. We do not like the animal to be tourtured at all, or at least me and my crew do not. Most of the time we want to keep the hog in the best shape possible to take it to sell. If we do not sell it, and we have enough meat already then we will donate the meat to someone that needs it more than we do.

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / TBH - My birthday hunt!
|
on: November 02, 2011, 02:14:55 pm

This was a great hunt! The morning after my bday... We dropped the dogs in the back yard of my buddy's house around 7ish. You could see they had been coming up not 100ft from his back door and rooting up his yard. We walked about 800yrds in and the dogs winded something, so then it was on! Once the dogs took off, we got about a half mile in and Soka started hammering. Diablo was with her and on it too, but he isn’t as loud as the hounds. Then Zig made his way to Soka and Diablo… Blake starts putting it in high gear, and Baus and I were trying to keep up. Next thing I know, Blake runs through this thicket to get to the bay and little piglets come out of everywhere… probably about 12 of ‘em. Along with those 12 piglets came a boar, about 250ish, running right behind all of them, and he came out from nowhere too. Blake didn’t see him because he was trying to get to Zig, Soka, and Diablo which were all caught on a good 180ish pound sow. I scrambled to get to Baus’s lead to let him go get this big boar, and mind you this is first time in the woods… there were so many little brown and black piglets going every direction that he didn’t know what to think. He honored the bay, found the hog and dogs, and caught. I’d say for being the first time in the woods I couldn’t of expected more. As we were tying dogs up so we could get pics, Eric’s dogs bayed up another one. Baus was still caught on the first one, and everyone was taking off to the next hog as I was prying Baus’s butt off of the hog. I took off to the next one only to hear in the distance that they were already caught, so we took our time, and I didn't let him go again as him and I were worn out from getting to the first one. All in all, we couldn’t have wanted more out of the “greenhorns”. (little Deadliest Catch reference) Good Hunt! Thanks goes to the crew for doing work and making it happen again as usual. I don’t think that my birthday could have been any better. Blake n Zig, Jeff n Soka, and Me n Diablo. Blake n Baus, and Jeff n Rowdy Jeff n rowdy, and Eric n D.O.G. TBH! Word!
