We hunt cypress creek bottoms and the sulphur river bottoms so the pigs have some pressure on them.
Faster dogs or as a few guys on here prefer dogs with more bottom that will chase for miles

People always say speed, speed, speed. Speed won't do anything for you in the thick stuff... the fastest dog in the world is useless in that situation. Open country, sure, speed counts. But bottom is whats gonna get it done in the thick stuff.
That's why them hogs are always bayed against a creek bank, in a root ball or blow down... they chose the place to stop and fight... the dogs didn't stop them there.

Are these thick places?? I always thought Hawaii was far more thick then any part of Texas and my dogs that I have based off of speed with minimal bottom to get the hog stopped as close as possible to where the pig is hit has worked great for me.
