Sounds like it is more likely to get your dog hurt. It wont know it cant catch until it is too close to the hog.

the bone will be repaired and the fracture will be filled in and the bone built up around the crack. The bone will actually be thicker (stronger) around the original break. If it breaks again it will be in a different location.

Only way to break in the same spot is to hunt it too soon before it is fully healed.
