I have definately heard of a few crazy beliefs but if it works for you then go for it! I for one have always had an unopened bag of beef jerky in my pack and if the occasion comes up that I get caught off guard and am invited with a friend I HAVE TO stop by a gas station or store on the way or it will be on my mind! I also always had a can of Vienna Sausage in my pack until I hunted with a friend and up until lunch we hadn't hit a single pig and when we stopped for lunch I got out my can of sausage and my friend swore it was the reason! I still keep a can in my pack but when I run with him I make sure to take it out and he is sure to check that I have no canned goods on me!
