Personally, i never put a catchdog on a pig that isnt bigger than him/her. I want the dog to learn to catch, not to kill. in my opinion they need to learn how to handle a hog instead of just trying to kill it. as far as confidence, if they dont have that then its time to re-evaluate the breeding program. At my house they either catch....or dont.
