I have an old dog that gets stove up like that. When he is hunting hard several days in a row I will give him (and other tired dogs) an aspirin with a Gatorade chaser. The aspirin just thins the blood allowing for better circulation thru the sore muscles. Works for my tired dogs. Good luck...
