Just getting them out with you and letting them see that it's ok for them to wander away from you.
We start ours as pups in a pen then move up to a 50 acre pen but one of the big things is letting them know they can run off...instead of staying under your feet. I don't want to refer to it as taking them for a walk because that brings up images of a park and leash..  but it is a walk in the woods to let them discover their roll in the hunt.   

Once they figure out thats what you want from them(to get out and work)  then instinct kicks in and the hunt begins.
