One thing to consider that my hunting friend muleman taught me....that most old hound men know, that i didn't. There are dogs that once they get on a track will stay with it to the bitter end and tree 5 - 10 mi away. There are other hounds that will start the same track but if they run across a hotter track will take that one and tree alot closer to you some time. I perfer the latter as long as the bottom end is there in both but to each his own and my best dog is one that will stay on the same track so i obviously have some work to do.
Kind of like a dog that follows every zig zag the hog traveled vs one that runs a generally straight line picking up parts of the track and coverin the same track quicker...I wish i could breed dogs for a living
