Do what you want but I wouldn't own a pony, a good kids horse is way better. I start kids and colts out the same way slow and easy. Dont do like my neighbours did and buy a horse without riding it first, they came by to ride i couldn't go with them and 20 mins later one came back screaming down the road, the " broke horse " they bought bucked his girl friend off on the paved road and she died 2 days later from a brain injury. So just becareful and if ya can take a old horse hand with ya to try'em out cause there are lots of sorry people who will sell you a no good horse even when they know it's for a kid..........just my 2 cents though.
