When hurricane Floyd came by us(FL) in '99(second largest evacuation in US history) we had bumper to bumper traffic in front of our property(we live in the middle of the state, high ground). To have family after family drive up to your house and plead for shelter is a sobering experience. I have never, before or since, seen such fear in my fellow man's eyes..... Luckily, Floyd turned and skirted our coast, otherwise there would have been many killed.
Do not take this storm lightly. The roof is the first to be damaged, do all you can do to secure any loose edges. Cut all overhanging trees/branches that will be blown down damaging all structure below.
Make sure you have a chainsaw/mixed fuel when you drive. One big tree between you and where you need to be can be dangerous.
