Had a gyp do somethin' similar, puss-y whelps all over... when I looked closer,  I saw "nymph" ticks all over her, most had already eaten and fallen off over night... she was in bad shape...

Gave her some benadryl, a good flea and tick bath, then some A.C. time and she was good in a couple days.  Some Penicillin couldn't have hurt either if I'd thought of it at the time...
