i don't think its so much that hounds have way better noses ....its just its in there make up genetics to trail colder tracks .....
That's my belief too.
Hounds have a better sense of smell = better nose! some hounds have a better nose than others! I have been rasing hounds for 35 years, I have seen black and Tans and Blueticks run a track that one of our Walkers couldnt even smell. Dave Dean of Michigan is a premier breeder of the American Bluetick Hound, He owns the Hammer line! 50 years ago he introduced some pointer into his line to give them a little more nose. There is night and day difference in our strait curs and our hound cur crosses when it comes to running a track! You can watch them on a Garmin and the hound crosses will run off and leave the curs on a track (Fresh or Cold)
