Mine start on cows first then hogs!!I never show them a hog in a pen!!After working cows a few times with them then I just start takeing them hunting they just pick up and go!!

I hate to admit it but I never saw the benefit of this until just recently.
"SilvertonBoarDogs" describes how he does this on another forum. I have never done it but after reading how he does, I was impressed and it was easy for me to see how cattle work at an early age hard wires a young dog to get ahead of a hog, and keep a group bunched in a controlled bay. Afterwards, they hit the woods on DAY 1 with the built in skills of a bay dog and a heck of a handle.

Now all people like me need are a few cows! lol
