I always call on the phone before ordering anything online. If I can't reach someone before I buy then I know if there is a problem I can't reach them for sure. If you are too busy to answer the phone then I will find someone that needs my business. But that is just me.
I always call as well but its more to check to see if they have what I'm about to order online in stock. It really pissed me off when I order something online, don't see it for two weeks so I call and find out it will be on back order for a couple more weeks. It just happened yesterday when I was trying to order some new shoes for my ATV. First two places I called didn't have the tires I wanted in stock....of course you'd never know that from looking at the website.
