whatever you use dont use shavings before the pups are up and about.....i lost over half a litter of real nice rednose pits....the shavings are small enough where the pups shovel it up in their mouths while they are scooting to the mother for feed.....thus they strangle or choke to death.....i learned the hard way......just a thought......pigstkr
