Every dog I have that is walking around age has a collar with my name and # on it. I had 2 Britts out for excercise take off last year the day before we were going to the Panhandle to hunt pheasants. I had no idea where they went. The next morning a guy that lives about 3 miles straight away called and said he had them at his house.
I was lucky, the 1st dog he caught had a new collar with no tag. he caught my male, Pivo and got my # and called me. Zach and I swung by on the way home and loaded them up and headed to Dimmit.
