THere are several threads that are discussion on a dogs teeth don't set good and you can damage the dogs mouth by starting the cach dogs too early, and IMO 6 months is way too early.
The six month cat is too young IMO, some people start them early, I don't. I feel the dogs are not mentally stable & mature enough yet. However I would alllow the pup to run around the outside of the pen while working the older dog, and he can see and get excited if it wants too, but if it does not show any interest at that age it would not concern me, thee is plentyu of time for them to grow into it.
