I always like when you first start messing with a new pup and see how they react. Then try and bring them along, without getting them hurt too bad, and seeing how they turn out. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good.  But I think tisi is what keeps me raising a litter every few years!

Oh yea, i hear ya on that one! I'm not letting these suckers go out with the big dogs for a long time! ive tried several different methods before and ive always had best luck by showing the pups with 1 older dog a pig in a trap like that letting them go nuts for a while and get them interested and then begin lettting them watch older dogs bay while pups are a safe distance away, all the while be working with their handle on loading in truck, learning their names, etc. then in a few months after doiing the previous for a while actually let them win a battle with a small shoat and praise them, then repeat by going up in size of shoats until its time to have them bay w/older dogs on a decent sized hog but not til theyre around 8-9months then after doing that a while i run a few mock-hunts and trashbreaking-time then i feel theyre ready to tag along on a hunt by 10.5-11months, sooner if they show potential but i started these barking at pigs at 8weeks and thats as early as ive even started so we'll have to wait and see! thanks fellas. -lawson
