When you mix up distrinct breeds of dogs you are decreasing the odds of the dogs having the dna it was bred for in the first place, out of a litter of 1/2 breeds you might get all good dogs one litter, next litter you might get all duds and next 50 50 from the exact same pairing.
American pointer are raised in Ga Fla Miss Ala for plantation huntings of quail over or behind dogs, they use them down here on large ranches, the best strains that are regularly hunted by the millionaires i used to work for were Elhew Pointers, they been bred to whindsheild wipe 1000 acres in a dead run, they are noted by huge giant chests and tiny wasp wasit butts, they will run all day at 5 to 10 in front a quail hunting rig. I used to kennel over 100 of them for one of the Bass Brothers from Forth Worth on a ranch down at Fal and Premont, they run and run if in shape, they requaltly take bets at $5 a bird killed to see how many the dog can point and find in hot brushy cactysy pastues, they will hunt with bones sticking out and wrecked pads. President Bush and Dick Chainy hired my neighbors with these dogs to kill lots of quail even when they were scarce. They will bark on a track a little if started out with hounds but normally are silent on trail, they are dead game on hogs and coon and boncat, they are kinda like a well bred American Foxhund but silent. They will catch on hogs too if hunted with hog dogs that will put a mouth on a hog after you get there, the som of ahhh bisquit eaters were hell to keep tuned up as they are a high energy dog in a kennel and always fight like hell, it used to take me 2 weeks to burn there awrse off some so the old fat overweight drunken hunters who came doen to the ranch could keep up with them. I used get duds and add them to a hogdog pack or a bobcat dog pack, they wont start on boobcats but are one hecka of a jump dog and they will tree in a low mesquite all night if they can see the cat, lots of time they will try to climb a low tree to kill the cat, they are dead game if you get the right strains, most of the duds get shot or given away from the oil people who drink too much for me anymore to fool with. Plus they are white and easy to see at night when roading dogs, kinda a bulleyes for a hog thoughlol
