I don't know if this is right but when this has happened to me I take the dog out of the heat or cold.
If the dog is hot I try to cool it down or if the dog is cold I will warm it up.
I bring the dog in the house and make a bed for it and let the dog lay somewhere close to me and let it know I am right there with him/her. The better the dog the more I try.
I will lay some of the clothes I wore that day next to the dog. This way If I need to step out he/she can still smell me even though I am not around.
I BELIEVE THE DOG NEEDS TO KNOW IT IS NOT ALONE TO GIVE IT THE WILL TO LIVE.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
A hunting dog is born not made...
