I use dog igloos with a board accros the front to hold in the hay/straw....fillem full and they stay warmer than you think just keep the doors facing south. I even had pups in and through the last two hard freezes and they all did fine. The igloos are a little expensive but if you watch craigslist,flea markets anss yard sales you can gettem cheap. I have bout 10 of them. For the pups I screw a carpet over the door and them a big ole sweat shirt and it stays pretty warm in there.
