What you have to realize is that there is 2 types of working cowdogs. Thoses that find, bay, then lead the cattle. Then thoses that find, bay then bring them to you.
A cow dog isa crap shoot. You might get a good one for hogs or you might not. Just like a mut can be the best you ever seen or maybe the worst.
Some cow dogs are bred to work close with the cowboy and do not have to be proven to have a nose and a dog that ranges out gets culled so that type of dog does not make a good hog dog.
there are some out there that are bred to do both.
I stick to the hunting breeds
However, you already have a grown dog and it wouldn't cost you much to find out if this dog is going to work or not so hope you get what you want.
