The only difference is safeguard won't kill whip worms but panacur will, and panacur won't kill tape worms but safeguard will.

Panacur and Safeguard are the exact same thing....both fenbendazole.

Panacur was originally (but not any longer) a prescription medication, safeguard was sold over the counter.


Proper dosage of fenbendazole in dogs is 50mg/kg or 22.7 mg/lb.  A 25 gram tube of safeguard contains 100mg/g of fendendazole.  A 50lb dog = 50lbs X 22.7mg/lb = 1,135mg / 100 = 11.35 grams or just under a half a tube.

Panacur C and Panacur paste both contain fenbazole, but what I have is a liquid, not sure what the difference is, just going by what the vet said.
