They make good bird dogs. The ones I have been around made good guard dogs too. I would bet they would be gritty. But never saw one on a hog. Only next to a hog named Harley Davidson. But I have seen better bird dogs. It just comes down to the dog. The ones I saw were about 60-70 pounds. I bet they would be good at hogs if they knew that was their job. The ones I was around were good at whatever job they had an had real good noses. Just make sure you like the personality.
