I personally leave a dog on a big hog till I got the sucker tied or killed, just had too many stand up on me when I "thought" I had 'em under control
My point is... I have no problem with a dog caught on a hog while I'm doin' my thing... AS LONG AS HE AIN'T STANDING OUT IN FRONT GETTIN' CHEWED ON!
I think a lot of people don't understand this... Basically, as soon as you get aholt of that hog, grab any dogs that are out in front and pull them along side of the hog where they can't GET CHEWED ON...
Grab 'em by the flank, the tail, I don't care!!! But if I see a dog get ruined cuz I didn't make the effort to help get him out of a dangerous spot.... well, that just makes me sick.
X2...plus it aggrivating as heck when you are trying to tie one up and a dog keeps running in to get a bite!
