One time we took our woods dogs and one yard dog to a baying.  Cheesy The yard dog did great! Bayed like a champ, but one of our best woods dogs, which we  were worried about being too rough in a bay pen, coward down when he was released.  Lips Sealed He just looked around at all of the people all big eyed and wouldn't move an inch!  Cheesy  That dog is still our number 2 dog in the woods.  Needless to say, that was our only bay pen comp. experience.  Grin

Have seen that a few times at bay pens Dinah. A smart ole woods dog will do it every time. I have seen a few woods dogs that will straight up catch in a pen also.
I know a few that will do it both well though. Wormy has a few that will sure enough get it done in the woods and I have won a little money off those same dogs in the Calcutta's.
HogzGoneWild had a dog name Lilly. She was hard to beat in the pen and she would sure enough find a bay hogs in the woods.
I don't do much pen work so I can tell you how it's done. I just know a few dogs that can do it all and are pretty good at both. They may be exceptions but I can't really say.
