I believe that the key to hunting with dogs in hot weather is keeping the dogs wet. It is important to have water for them to drink but to keep their body temps from getting too high since they don't sweat, keeping the dogs themselves wet has reallly been working for us.

I know that this is a challenge with the drought going on but I started bringing and icechest of icewater just for the dogs and if we do come across a water hole, we let the dogs get down in it and get soaking wet. As the water evaporates, it brings their body temps down.

I got one of the best tips ever from Noah last year and that is to wet the dogs down with a water hose before we ever leave the house. I hope that, that tip helps some of you out as much as it has helped me out.  Smiley
