hip displasia is really common in danes and mastiffs. Back when i was messing with them I had allot of people saying it was genetic and when buying the dogs i only bought them from people who had the parents tested. four different dogs from 3 different breeders and all 4 were put to sleep before their short life span should have been over. because I couldnt watch them struggle to their feet after laying down and then walk all gimpy...Bitter? Maybe
Perhaps some people have had them live to be 7-8 years without problems but not many i have talked to...
