I usually always hunt by myself. My dogs are fairly close ranging dogs and I like walking and looking. I think as long as you know your dogs and can call them off a hog and they're not gritty you're fine. I've gotten on some bad hogs by myself. Never had a dog cut when I was by myself either. Just don't get in a hurry or act like you're invincible.
