Im not real sure about this question, Im a firm believer that if a dog is gritty he will stay that way. Sometimes a big Boar hog can break them down a little bit. As far as keeping your puppy from being gritty or trying to catch Ive heard to cut the ears off the hog you use for training. That way they cant try and catch it they just have to bay. Good luck
