I don't like rough dogs myself . I think they get good dogs killed. That being said. I'm sure a lot will disagree

I have seen a elite few that were smart enough to be rough and a few smart enough to run with them. But most have to have help to stay alive they will get cut up and there help will too. That is if they can track one far enough to get out of sight. Now y'all can tell me how wrong I am. I prefer dogs that can strike a track go till they bay him up. Then put the biters in. Strike and bay dogs have no business fighting a hog. There job is to find them, the hardest part. This is the SPORT to me matching a dogs ability to find and bay a pig. I have kicked the idea around of only sight hunting big boars. Rigging Sho Nuff bad dogs picking your trophy say 200lbs plus and sending a couple to him. Fun ? Yes! Good dogs ? No just tough gritty, mean . You can get them anywhere for cheep it the excesories that cost you the Jack.I know. There are a few of you on here have some that have some smart rough dogs. If so you are fortunate it's what every body want and VERY few have
Let's back up a bit... Were talkin about 300-600 yard med range strike find and then catch... only dog on the ground type of dog, don't know where we got help or sight dogs from but I'm talkin bout a one dog show... Yes scarred up and if it's a bad hog he will have to b carried out of the woods most of the time but he won't quit one till he's broke off or cut plum down... Believe it or not I've tied 200+ pound hogs with him alone more than once, I'm over 6' and he's 6" above my knee and averages 100#s he's got the size to hold em and the heart to not quit and before it's brought up, he will stay up with any other dog all day he ain't big and lazy or clumsy... Just one of them dogs there ain't no price tag on, two different guys tried swappin me their trucks for him at one point, I understand most don't like rough dogs and that's ok too lol the reasons are obvious, but rough to me don't mean gritty and all rough dogs are not help dogs or "rcds"
