After picking up the lil John boat from my late pawpaws house yesterday, I love it and have serious plans for it, BUT I now have this insatiable itch to build a pontoon. My good buddy josh knows where a couple pontoons are at and im gonna make a cash offer or trade a sks for them, but I will need to build a frame.

I've dont know how to weld very good and definitely dont know jack about welding aluminum so would I be ok with a lightweight steel frame and plywood deck?

Also, the pontoon will be exclusively for hunting hogs and gators, any setup ideas and or pics would be appreciated
Me and a friend built one out of 55 gallon drums for bow fishing. Pontoons make it easier. Sorry don't have picks but we were using what we could get free. We used square tubing and pipes to hold the pontoons together. Then used angle iron to hold the plywood. We were proud of our rust pile until the barrels broke apart. Pontoons remove that.
