This is why I hunt Fla curs. They suit me and are NOT bred for color. They can be any color, bob tailed or long tailed, and most are too rough to be just "pets". They never caught on as fads here in Fla and many people don't even know they exist. Which is a good thing to me!
The people that "usually" have had them for years use the heck out of them. There are plenty of still wet behind the ears guys that are starting to hunt them, but the older guys that have been hunting and raising them for years know what they have and what the dogs are capable of.
They aren't world beaters and they are rough, but many will consistently produce hogs.
As far as the YBM and Catahoula breeds, I know a lot of good marketing went behind those breeds to make them popular.....and to generate big bucks for the breeders...............not to say there aren't good ones in both breeds (as much as that hurt to say......

), but I think a lot of litters have been made because someone had two YBM or Catahoula dogs in their yard. I don't usually even breed a dog until they are 4-5 years old and I know what they can do in the woods. I have lost some opportunities that way, but I have avoided some serious mistakes too.
Who hasn't seen a young dog that was a fireball at a year old and by three you can't pour him on a hog?? I don't want to breed more like that........................................
