I see the yella dogs going thru the same thing the catahoulas went through about 10 to 15 years ago. Pups are being mass produced, young unproven dogs (and culls Shocked) are being bred and people are buying them up like hotcakes... all because they're "yella".

I've been noticing this over the past few years... y'all seeing the same thing?

I would like to go on a hog hunt with a good line of yellow dogs that have a black mask, no hound crosses, and walk in catch dogs only. I haven't tried one in almost 20 years and would like to try to find the right line to breed a mtn cur gyp to . Sounds like we have a few good lines out there. I think it is easier to locate a good line now that we have the www.

I have been thinking about trying a Joey Hutson dog but would rather use a stud from hog hunting stock that hunt as good as his tree dogs.

Mike, I agree...popularity hurts a breed more than it helps it because the quality drops on account of in-experience, lack of knowledge, or just plain ole greed... but when the fad is over the true, hardcore, and dedicated breeders will be the ones who will save the breed...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
A hunting dog is born not made...
