being gritty can be a good thing or a bad thing. a dog thats not gritty usally dont get cut as often as one that is. we run 3 bay dogs. #1 that will not touch a hog unless its tied or died. #2 that is kinda of gritty and #3 thats real gritty.  our pack does pretty good and catches a good bit of hogs. just my $0.02
